Question:

I have an asset in the system that I need to delete, however there is no option to delete the asset.

Answer:

There could be multiple reasons why an asset can not be deleted.

  • Your user account does not have the require privileges.
  • The asset has data associated with it.

Required Privileges

In order to delete assets, your user role needs to have the "Delete' rights to the Asset module.  Firstly, determine what role your user account has been assigned to.  This information is displayed in the user badge on the top right of any TMaSS screen.  You can see from the image below, the user "Wayne Peterson" has been assigned the "System Administrator" Role.I you believe your role should allow asset deletion, speak with your technical support team and have them check your current role privileges.

Associated Data

The only time an asset can be deleted is when no data has been associated with it.  For example, if you create an asset (EG: a Tyre), then complete some function on that asset (EG: complete an inspection) you will not be able to delete the asset.  However, if you create the asset, the realise that a mistake has been made, you will be able to delete the asset
