Safety Observations Overview

The Safety Observations sub-module of the Safety module.  Predominantly, it is where you can create safety observations on staff or visitors carrying out tasks in the workplace.  The Safety Observation is process is wizard driven,  allowing for quick and easy data entry, and when completed a serialised observation object is created.  You can see from the observation object below, like other objects, it provides you with quick info such as:

  • Who the observation was completed on
  • The date of the observation
  • Who completed the observation
  • Reviewed status - Denotes whether the observation has been reviewed by management
  • Approval status - Denotes whether the observation is viewable by all users.

The Approval status is a mechanism whereby a safety observation can be displayed to users of a site, in which the user creating the observation is a member of a different company.  Meaning, if the user creating the observation is a user of Company A, but has access to Company B.  If the user creates an observation in Company B, if not approved, only users from Company A will be able to view the observation.

You create an observation the same way as other objects, by pressing the ‘Add’ button. Once you start a new observation, the ‘Safety Observation' wizard will start, which consists of seven steps.  As you progress through the wizard, each completed step is displayed with an overlayed tick. The below image shows the wizard progress bar,

You will also notice as you progress through the wizard the photobutton. This allows you to take photos (iPad) or select an existing photo (web & iPad).  At any time during the process, you can move forward or backwards through the wizard in order to make changes by using the forward and back  buttons.

The last step in the wizard is the signature page, this page allows the user to sign the screen user their finger (iPad) or select a signature image (web) by pressing the pen  button, be sure however to press save or your signature will not save.
