The Alerts module is where the system displays automatically generated alerts for various assets, as well as alerts relating to tasks assigned to specific users. An alert provides the user a mechanism whereby they can:

  • Create a task and assign that task to another user (by duplicating or editing)
  • Complete the task directly from the alert
  • Acknowledge the alert
  • Delete the alert
  • Reject the alert

The following alerts are generated automatically by the system:

  • New asset created
  • New Document uploaded
  • New observation created
  • You have a new scheduled task
  • Pressure check due
  • RIM / Wheel crack test due
  • Vehicle inspection due

The system supports both in application and email alerting mechanisms. Unacknowledged in-application alerts are displayed by a number bubble on Alert module icon as shown below.

While in the Alert module, unacknowledged alerts can be identified by red exclamation point icon overlaid on the alert object

Assigning Alerts

By default, in-application and email alerting are enabled. By default, email and in-application alerts will be sent to the specified task owner. Meaning, if an Observation task is created for John, then only John is alerted. You can turn in-application and email alerting off from within the Alerts tab in Company Details

To setup the company alerts, the user will require the appropriate role security assigned to their user

However, the alerting scope doesn’t stop there, as TMaSS has the capability to alert certain user categories, these are:

  • Alerts manager: All system generated alerts will be sent to these users
  • Observation manger: When an observation is complete, a review alert will be sent to these users
  • Document approver: When a document is created, an alert will be sent to these users
  • Asset manager: When a temporary asset is created, an alert will be sent to these users
  • Safety manger: If a non-conformance is reported in a safety observation, an alert will be sent to these users
  • Maintenance manager: When an automated scheduled task for an asset is generated, an alert will be sent to these users

For alerting to work correctly, the users assigned to specific

alerts will require access to those modules and have the correct role security assigned
