Scrapping assets in TMaSS varies from asset to asset depending on their type.  It must be mentioned that scrapping assets differs from deleting assets significantly.  Deleting an asset removes is from the system and reporting data, while scrapping an asset deactivates the asset and keeps its data for reporting purposes.

Additionally,  the term scrap in the case of TMaSS differs depending on what asset type you are scrapping.  Scrapping a tyre or rim / wheel means it is deactivated and can be reactivated if required, while scrapping an assembly means that the assembly itself is 'scrapped' or deactivated but the assets it contained, a wheel / rim and a tyre are moved to back to stock and their disposition changed to 'spare'.

Breaking or scrapping assembly are essentially the same thing, however the corresponding dialogues differ significantly.  Breaking an assembly allows to the user to remove either the tyre, rim / wheel or both and build a new assembly. While the scrap assembly dialogue only gives the option to scrap the assembly and assign the associated assets a particular disposition.
